High-profile singers are expected to perform in place of Jackson
According to a tour organizer, one performance will now be held in September and will be a replica of what was planned for “This Is It” in London. High-profile singers are expected to perform in place of Jackson. Among them, possibly Madonna, who was expected to appear at one of Jackson’s shows in London. A firm decision has not been made as to where the tribute concert will take place, but it’s likely to be in Los Angeles.

More exclusive tidbits from the rehearsals of Madonna's Sticky and Sweet Tour 2009!

After hearing and reporting first that Holiday will be replacing Heartbeat with a "GLAM-ROCK" version of Dress You Up, played on a guitar riff calling to mind The Knack's song "My Sharona", will take the place of Bordeline in the Old School part of the show we heard that there's another surprising song change in the show.
This time the surprising news is that a dance version of the 1998 hit single Frozen is being rehearsed in the place of the "Rock guitar version" of Hung Up!
Frozen, written by Madonna and Patrick Leonard has only been played twice live on Madonna tours: in 2001's Drowned World Tour and in 2004's re-Invention Tour.

William Orbit Talks Madonna
"It’s ‘Music’ (the track) that I play at deejay sets the most, albeit my own slightly tweaked version. I love it and never tire of it and think that what she and Mirwais accomplished together was fantastic! I do get a great response when I play Ray of Light however, even though it’s not a bad-ass demented techno tune, my favourite style to play. This is probably because of general goodwill and fondness towards her from my audience. Everyone has a good memory to go with that song." [...]
"I had to listen to the ‘Music’ album tracks on which I’d participated the other day for something that Warner's had requested. I cringed when I heard ‘American Pie’. A song that truly deserves it’s place at the top of the ‘worst-ever-cover-versions’ roll of dishonour! What were we thinking?
But ‘Runaway Lover’ sounded so good. It has stood the test of time very well and has a superb vocal from M. She very much sculpted the way that it sounds on the album. I was a bit spaced out during that one I recall and Mark (Spike) Stent did an excellent mix.
What really got me thinking is that the song ‘Amazing’ did not ever reach its full potential. i would love to mix that one again. There are elements that didn’t make it to the final" [...]
"there are vocals that she did in the late nineties that have particular strong emotional power. Not all of it released. Much has been written about her dramatic activities but she is capable of mining greater dramatic depths in her vocals than most singers today. It just isn’t always in the obvious way. You have to be open to it. Plus there is always a lot of ear candy too. That combination is part of the fascination.
Interesting the you mention a reworking of ‘Drowned World’. That could be very good, I was speculating on that just the other day. The original demos sound magical and golden. But I’d only do it as an exercise in musical possibilities for myself. M doesn’t look backwards readily and there are, naturally, Warner Bros considerations which are way above my head." [...]
"But although there is a lot of unreleased material, some of which is exceptional, the question of its release can only be answered by her. And she has a lot else going on in her world at any one time! I always look at it this way, you cannot fault her sense of timing and change so there’s not much pointed in trying to second guess her. She’ll be going strong for another 50 years, what’s the rush?"

MADONNA'S new daughter, Mercy James, 4, arrived in Britain yesterday to be reunited with the singer.
MADONNA'S new daughter, Mercy James, 4, arrived in Britain yesterday to be reunited with the singer.
She was flown from Malawi to Heathrow in a carefully orchestrated operation.
Madonna, 50, had flown into Britain from New York with her three other children hours earlier. Their meeting was thought to be the first since she travelled to Malawi in April, when her adoption bid was rejected before then being approved this month.
Malawian police arranged for the airport terminal in Lilongwe to be shut so Mercy and her new nanny, Joanne, could leave privately on a six-seater Cessna Citation.
They went to Johannesburg, then flew first class to Heathrow, landing at 6.30am. Earlier, Mercy was said to be filled with excitement at leaving Kumbali Lodge in Malawi.
One staff member said: "She was running around, singing to herself and telling everyone how she would be flying for the first time."
The singer won custody of Mercy this month, three years after falling for the child on a visit to the African country.
Madonna's other children were introduced to Mercy in April and were reportedly distressed at leaving her behind when Malawi's High Court rejected the singer's application because she was not resident in the country.
This decision was overturned by the Supreme Court.
It has been reported that Madonna has just splashed out $25 million on a Georgian-style townhouse in New York's Upper East Side, a 26-room home said to have 13 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms.
Rights groups claimed the Government gave Madonna special treatment and said foreign celebrities would now think they could adopt Malawian children at will.

Madonna: Sticky & Sweet By Guy Oseary

https://www.powerhousebooks.com/cart2.php?book_id=1008&AID=1
Following the critical success of Madonna: Confessions, the powerHouse team, Madonna, and Guy Oseary return with a knockout punch: Sticky & Sweet, a dynamic look at Madonna’s celebrated Sticky & Sweet Tour, which broke all previous records and became the number-one highest grossing tour of any solo artist ever—with Madonna playing before 2,350,282 fans and selling over 280 million dollars’ worth of tickets. The tour has been extended through the summer of 2009 and will have passed the mark of 400 million dollars in ticket sales by the time it’s complete.
In over 500 full-color photographs taken on, and backstage, during the course of this historic 58-show tour, Oseary documents the four acts of the rock-driven, pop journey that is the Sticky & Sweet show—Pimp: A mashed-up homage to 1920s deco and modern-day gangsta pimp, with Madonna making a grand entrance dressed in Givenchy; Old School: Madonna tips her hat to her early-80s, downtown, New York City dance roots, with flashes of Keith Haring and the dance culture vibe of the time, including the birth of Hip Hop; Gypsy: A VIP trip to La Isla Bonita, infused with the spirit of Romanian folk music and dance—a tour de force; and Rave: Far-eastern influences emerge all sparkly and sporty.
Guy Oseary is the CEO of Maverick and Madonna’s manager. He has worked closely with Madonna for almost two decades, and was the only individual permitted to take photographs both on and backstage on the landmark Sticky & Sweet Tour. Oseary’s first book, Madonna Confessions, was published by powerHouse in 2008.
